Dodgers Recalling 3rd-Ranked Prospect

He's getting another shot in the majors and he's earned it.

Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are recalling prospect Miguel Vargas when MLB rosters expand on September 1.

Vargas was pulled from his game in Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday night after drawing a second-inning walk. He'll join the Dodgers' taxi squad in New York before being activated on Thursday.

The twenty-two-year-old has dominated at the Triple-A level this season, slashing a phenomenal .304/.404/.511, with 17 home runs, 82 RBI and 16 stolen bases over 113 games. He also has 71 walks to his 76 strikeouts, a testimony to his patience at the plate.

Vargas already played two games with the Dodgers this season and had two hits, two RBI and a stolen base. He can also play all over the diamond defensively, which improves his value significantly.

Vargas is the Dodgers' third-ranked prospect and the 44th ranked prospect in all of baseball.
