Dodgers Injury Plagued Starter Expected to Avoid Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers fans were expecting an announcement this weekend that he'd be taking a trip to the injured list.

It looks like Andrew Heaney will avoid it for now, though. The thirty-one-year-old was forced to leave Saturday's start against the Kansas City Royals after taking a 106.5 MPH liner off his left arm. It was diagnosed as a left arm contusion and, for a pitcher who can't stay healthy, it seemed very likely that he would miss his next start at the very least.

Manager Dave Roberts said he expects Heaney to make his next scheduled start, which would come against the Milwaukee Brewers on August 18th.

Heaney has only managed to make seven starts this season, but he's been fantastic in them, posting a sparkling 1.16 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 42 strikeouts across 31 innings.

The Dodgers have discovered a dominant version of Andrew Heaney this season, the only thing they can't fix is his health. Let's hope he can stay healthy from here on out.
