Cardinals Recall Rookie Slugger

One week after being activated from the injured list and optioned to Triple-A, the St. Louis Cardinals have recalled him.

The Cardinals have called up Juan Yepez from Triple-A Memphis.
The move comes as a result of Nolan Arenado being placed on the paternity leave, meaning Yepez will likely end up having a pretty short stay in the majors this time around.

The twenty-four-year-old rookie has been quite solid in his debut, hitting .254/.298/.459, with 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored in 62 games.

Yepez is not in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves.

Yepez has been equally impressive in the minors this season, hitting .274 with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs in 124 at-bats. It's only a matter of time before he has a full-time job in the majors.
