Cardinals Recall Pitcher

The St. Louis Cardinals need an arm to replace closer Ryan Helsley, who's away on paternity leave this weekend.

As a result, the team has recalled pitcher JoJo Romero from Triple-A Memphis.

Romero has had not much success at all at the major league level, holding a 7.89 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP over 21 innings all with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The twenty-five-year-old has been very solid in the minors this season, posting a 1.20 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 20 strikeouts over 15 innings. He's also converted two saves.

He'll provide the Cardinals with some extra depth in the bullpen while Helsley's away.
