Brewers DFA Catcher Then Place Other Catcher on Injured List

The Milwaukee Brewers are not in a good position behind the plate right now.

The team rostered three catchers for a month. The day after they designated the third one for assignment, one of the other two catchers, their best one, goes on the injured list.

The team announced Thursday that catcher Omar Narvaez is being placed on the 10-day injured list with a left quad strain.

Narvaez suffered the quad strain in Wednesday night's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates and will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. However, Manager Craig Counsell said it's not yet clear how long he'll be sidelined. The team is not ruling out a minimum stay, but this type of injury sometimes takes longer than it would seem.

Catcher Mario Feliciano has been recalled from Triple-A Nashville to back up Victor Caratini. The twenty-three-year-old has been enjoying a decent season at the minor league level this year, hitting .288/.346/.728, with three home runs, 26 RBIs and two stolen bases.
