Astros Lose Closer to Neck Spasms

The Houston Astros will be losing their star closer for a bit.

The Astros have placed closer Ryan Pressly on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 22, due to neck spasms.

The club reportedly tried to avoid putting Pressly on the injured list, instead taking things day by day in hopes the issue would pass. However, Pressly was not progressing fast enough and, rather than continue to use an active roster spot on an injured player, the Astros decided to give him an extended period of rest and recovery.

Hector Neris and Bryan Abreu will take over as the interim closers in Pressly's absence.
