Tigers Solve Mystery Over Missing Pitcher

Earlier this month, we described the mysterious absence of one of the Detroit Tigers' big offseason free agent signings, right-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. The team hadn't been able to reach him since June 13th when he was placed on the restricted list for "personal reasons." After three weeks, they began to wonder what was up.

The mystery has finally been solved.

Rodriguez has finally been in communication with the Tigers and has provided a timeline for his return. He had been on the injured list since May 18th with a ribcage strain, and hasn't pitched since.

Now, he's expected to be back on the mound sometime in late August, a good month from now.

E-Rod signed a 5-year, $77M free agent deal in the offseason, but has only provided the Tigers with 8 starts, one victory, and a 4.38 ERA with a WHIP of 1.33.

There's no explanation being given as yet as to why he disappeared, though it's thought a family situation was involved.
