New York Yankees & Kansas City Royals Make Big Trade

The New York Yankees have won the Andrew Benintendi sweepstakes, as they have acquired him from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for prospects Beck Way, T..J. Sikkema, and Chandler Champlain.

Benintendi has been linked to the Bronx Bombers for quite some time, so it isn't surprising to see that a deal has now come to fruition. The former Red Sox will now be a notable upgrade over the struggling Joey Gallo. Although he lacks the power that Gallo possesses, he hits for contact immensely better, as his .320 batting average in 93 games shows perfectly. With that, he also appeared in his first All-Star Game this season.

The Royals have landed themselves three pitching prospects for Benintendi, and that isn't a bad thing at all. Rather than losing the All-Star outfielder to free agency this offseason, they have added to their prospect pool. That's never a bad thing for rebuilding club.
