Cardinals Catcher Expected to Return in Early August

Yadier Molina is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment around the end of July.

If everything progresses smoothly, Molina will then return to the Cardinals' roster sometime in early August.

The forty-year-old catcher had reportedly returned to Puerto Rico to recover from his injury when he landed on the injured list on June 16. As of July 08, Molina was apparently still in Puerto Rico and had not begun baseball activities yet. The Cardinals team was starting to get slightly ancy in his absence and reached out to him to return to St. Louis to be with the team, as he continued his recovery.

The catcher's leadership and belovedness in the Cardinals' clubhouse are undeniable, and it's no wonder the team wanted that leader and his presence back with the team.

Molina has played 38 games for the Cardinals this season, batting .213, with two home runs and 10 RBIs.

It's pretty incredible that the forty-year-old has spent his entire 19-year career with the St. Louis Cardinals.
