Yankees Release Pitcher

The New York Yankees have released pitcher Ryan Weber.

The news came today when the pitcher opted to become a free agent rather than receiving an assignment.

The thirty-one year old has pitched in only one game this season, going just 3.2 innings. Over those innings, Weber allowed one run and threw one strikeout.

Last season, the righty hopped around the league, going from Boston to Milwaukee to Seattle. Pitching in just 9.2 innings over 4 games, Weber posted a whopping 12.10 ERA while allowing 15 hits.

Weber's decision to opt for free agency comes after a phenomenal first 56 games for the Yankees so far this season. The team has 49 wins and 17 losses giving them a .742 win percentage: the highest in the league.
