Ugly Collision Leaves White Sox SS Limping Off Field; 2 Others Injured As Well

It was not the best afternoon for the Chicago White Sox. They lost not only a game (9-5 to the Toronto Blue Jays), but they also lost the services of THREE players. The most serious of the injuries appeared to be shortstop Danny Mendick's, after a nasty collision.

Mendick clearly was favoring his leg as he was helped off the field, limping. The shortstop took the brunt of the collision with left fielder Adam Hasely, while third baseman Jake Burger nearly got caught up in it as well. It looked like a knee-on-knee.

Leury Garcia took over at shortstop.

But that wasn't the only injury problem for the South Siders in this one. Just one inning later, Adam Engel was forced out of the game due to right hamstring tightness.

Outfielder Luis Robert also left the game with a leg injury after he was seen hobbling into first base.

The White Sox have been riddled with injuries all season, and continue to wallow around under the .500 mark once again, at 33-34.
