Tigers Getting Starter Back

Michael Pineda threw 4.1 innings of one-run ball Tuesday in his first rehab start with Triple-A Toledo.

Out since mid-May with a small fracture in his finger, Pineda gave up just one hit and one walk while throwing 31/46 pitches for strikes in the efficient outing.

He is scheduled for another rehab start on Sunday and, if all goes well, will be cleared to rejoin the Tigers' rotation next week.

On the season, the thirty-three year old has appeared in 22 innings for the Tigers, pitching a solid 3.22 ERA, 1.08 WHIP with 12 strikeouts.

The Tigers have been the opposite of solid this season however, posting a .382 winning percentage with a 26-42 record, good for fourth place in the American League Central.
