Rays Recall Number 2 Ranked Prospect

The Rays have recalled outfielder, and number two ranked prospect in their system, Josh Lowe.

Lowe struggled earlier this season with the Rays, hitting just .188/.257/.344, with one homerun and six RBI's in 19 games. However since being sent back down to Triple-A in early May, Lowe has turned it around, slashing .299/.382/.540 with six homeruns, 35 RBIs, and six stolen bases in 36 games.

The strikeouts are still a major issue for the young outfielder, as he struck out 49 times in 36 games in the minors this season. However, the power and speed combo Lowe provides are more than enough to earn himself another shot to prove himself in the majors.

As of today, MLB teams have to cut down from 14 pitchers to 13. In a corresponding move, the Rays have sent pitcher Luke Bard down to Triple-A Durham.

In six innings with the Rays this season, Bard put up triple zeros in ERA, a 0.50 WHIP, and struck out five with just one walk. The thirty-one year old will most likely be back at the major league level soon.
