Rays Catcher Could Need Season-Ending Surgery

While speaking with reporters, Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Mike Zunino may have thoracic outlet syndrome. If his condition does not improve, the veteran catcher would be forced to have season-ending surgery to fix it.

The Rays are currently trying to maintain a playoff spot in the very competitive AL East, so losing Zunino for the year wouldn't be ideal. It has been a rough year for him, though, as the 2021 All-Star has five home runs, 16 RBIs, and a very low. 148 batting average in 36 games.

Here's to hoping that Zunino can get better shortly or his 2022 season will be over.
