Padres May Call Up Top Prospect Today

With bad news comes good news for the San Diego Padres...maybe.

Padres top prospect, and MLB number six overall CJ Abrams, may be getting the call to the majors on Monday. With Manny Machado being out for an unspecified amount of time with an ankle sprain, there is a good chance the Padres turn to CJ Abrams to fill the superstar's absence.

The twenty-one year old phenom has been an everyday player for the Padres minor league affiliate, Triple-A El Paso, playing thirty games hitting .314/.364/.507, with seven homeruns, twenty-eight RBIs, and ten stolen bases in just thirty games.

Abrams was held out of the lineup last night in El Paso, a pre-cautionary measure in case he does get the call on Monday. Padres fans will wait to see if Machado hits the injured list, which seems likely seeing the gruesome replay of the injury. The good news is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures, so we'll just have to wait for word on the severity of the sprain.

The month of June has been an exceptionally good month for the youngster, CJ Abrams.

Losing your star third baseman is always a big blow, but fans can't help but be excited about the potential promotion of such an talented young player as CJ Abrams.
