Orioles Release Infielder

Earlier this week, the Baltimore Orioles designated Chris Owings for assignment. Now, his time with the organization is coming to a close, as the team placed him on unconditional release waivers.

Owings signed with the Orioles for this season and has struggled mightily since. In 26 games, he has just six hits in 56 at-bats, which equates to a .107 batting average. With this, it is understandable that the Orioles are parting ways with the veteran.

It will now be intriguing to see if Owings can find a new home from here. Teams in need of some infield depth could take a chance on the 10-year veteran, as he can play several positions. In 710 career games between the Diamondbacks, Royals, Red Sox, Rockies, and Orioles, he has 37 home runs, 220 RBIs, and a 239 batting average.
