Marlins Acquire Catcher From Tigers

The Miami Marlins have acquired Ryan Lavarnway from the Detroit Tigers.

Lavarnway has spent all of this season down in Triple-A with Toledo. In 44 games with the minor league squad, he has five home runs, 26 RBIs, and a .281 batting average. Overall, it's been a solid year for the veteran, so perhaps we could see him get some chances with the Marlins from here.

In 165 career MLB games between the Red Sox, Orioles, Braves, A's, Pirates, Reds, Marlins, and Cleveland, Lavarnway has nine home runs, 50 RBIs, and a .217 batting average.
