Cubs Pitcher Designated For Assignment

The Chicago Cubs have designated Sean Newcomb for assignment.

Newcomb was traded to the Cubs by the Braves back in April. In seven games between the two teams this season, he has a 0-0 record and a very rough 11.57 ERA. He struggled even more with the Cubs, however, as he allowed eight earned runs in just 4.1 innings pitched.

Newcomb will now either be traded or placed on waivers by the end of the week. Perhaps the Braves could look to bring him because he spent six years with the team. If not, other clubs could be interested in the 148-game veteran. Alas, let's see what happens from here.
