Astros' Rookie Showing Positive Progress

The Houston Astros will have their talented rookie back very soon.

Jeremy Pena took swings in the batting cage and did some throwing drills on Tuesday. He said afterwards that everything felt really good, and that over the next few day they're are going to ramp up the intensity of the activities.

Pena has not played since June 13 when he landed on the injured list with left thumb discomfort. The shortstop looks ready to be activated around the end of June.

The twenty-four year old was among the American League Rookie of the Year frontrunners when he sustained the injury. He was batting .277/.333/.471, with nine home runs, 27 RBIs and six stolen bases in 54 games.
Pena will assuredly put himself right back into the Rookie of the Year conversation once he returns.
