Tigers Promote Pitcher

The Detroit Tigers have called up Joey Wentz from Triple-A Toledo. Tiger fans won't have to wait long to see him debut, either, as he is set to start during Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

Wentz has made five starts for Toledo this season and has had mixed results. Thus far, he sports a 0-1 record and a 4.12 ERA. However, even though these numbers aren't the best, he is still getting the chance to make his major-league debut with Detroit.

Wentz has had a pretty solid minor-league career, though. In 102 starts over six seasons, he has a 19-27 record and 3.46 ERA. It will be intriguing to see how the 24-year-old performs with the Tigers from here. If he has success, it wouldn't be surprising for him to have a permanent spot on their roster.
