MLB Rumors: Red Sox To Shop Catcher

The Boston Red Sox are just not turning things around as we get deeper into May. At this point of the year, they have a 14-22 record and their playoff hopes are continuing to decrease significantly. With this, they are expected to be sellers and one player who they are expected to trade is Kevin Plawecki.

Plawecki is struggling at the plate significantly this year, as he has zero home runs, two RBIs, and a very low .146 batting average. However, a market could very well still be there for the veteran catcher as we get closer to the deadline. He has the potential to bounce back. In 24 games during 2020, he sported a .341 batting average and then followed that up with a .287 batting average last season.

Playoff teams looking for a bit more depth behind the plate for the postseason certainly could call about Plawecki. With Plawecki being a pending UFA, Boston will certainly take calls on him.
