MLB Rumors: Cubs To Shop Catcher

The Chicago Cubs may have had a busy offseason, but it hasn't led to much success in 2022. At this juncture of the campaign, they sport an 11-19 record and seem destined to be sellers at the deadline. One player who will likely be shopped due to this is Willson Contreras.

Contreras will be entering his final year of arbitration, but following it, he will be eligible for unrestricted free agency. This is a major reason why a trade centering around him feels very likely.

A two-time All-Star, Contreras is off to another solid campaign. In 24 games on the year, he has three home runs, nine RBIs, and a .292 batting average.
