Mariners Release Outfielder

Steven Souza Jr. has been released by the Seattle Mariners. This news comes a few days after the veteran outfielder was designated for assignment by the club.

Souza Jr. appeared in six games with the Mariners this season, where he had three hits in 19 at-bats. He spent the majority of this year with Triple-A Tacoma and had success there. In 22 games, he had five home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .267 batting average.

Teams looking to add depth to their outfield could give Souza Jr. a chance. He comes with a solid amount of MLB experience, too. In 505 career games between the Nationals, Rays, Diamondbacks, Cubs, Dodgers, and Mariners, he has 72 home runs, 207 RBIs, and a .229 batting average.
