Mariners Outfielder Designated For Assignment
The Seattle Mariners have designated Steven Souza Jr. for assignment.
Souza Jr. has primarily been a depth option on the major league squad this season. In six games this campaign, he has zero home runs, one RBI, and a .158 batting average. Overall, it's fair to say that he struggled at the plate this season. Thus, with this move, the Mariners now have a week to either trade him or place him on waivers.
Perhaps a team could consider adding Souza Jr. because he possesses a lot of MLB experience. In 505 career games between the Nationals, Rays, Diamondbacks, Cubs, Dodgers, and Mariners, he has eight home runs, 72 RBIs, and a .229 batting average. Let's see if the journeyman ends up joining the seventh team of his career from here.
