Video: Byron Buxton Furious As He Leaves Game With Injury

Byron Buxton has been one of the most tantalizing talents in baseball for years—when he's been able to stay on the field. Unfortunately, a constant spate of injuries has robbed him of over 500 games in his 7+ years in the majors. Today, he had to exit the Minnesota Twins' game against the Boston Red Sox in the 1st inning after an awkward slide into 2nd base.

Buxton knew immediately he'd done something to his knee, slammed the ground with his hand, and walked off the field under his own power, while shouting angrily into his helmet. For now, it's being called right knee soreness.

The outfielder's frustration was obvious. Many felt that Buxton was poised to finally put it all together this season, after signing a 7-year, $100M extension with the Twins in the offseason. He's always had the potential to be a 5-tool superstar. But he simply hasn't been able to avoid injuries.

The 28-year-old has missed 52% of his team's games since coming into the league in 2015, with an assortment of injuries. He missed four months last season with a hip strain and then a broken finger, and in the past he's battled foot sprains, concussions, shoulder surgery, a strained wrist, a fractured toe, a groin strain, sprained thumb, knee sprain, back contusion, and migraines.

The good news here though is he was able to bounce up on both legs to try to shake it off, as well as walk off under his own strength. Hopefully, this one is just a minor setback for Buxton.
