Reds Designate Pitcher For Assignment

After claiming Matt Reynolds off waivers, the Cincinnati Reds needed to open up a roster spot for him. Due to this, the club has designated Ryan Hendrix for assignment.

The 2022 season has been off to a rough start for Hendrix, so perhaps this is a move that fans could have predicted. In 3.1 innings pitched, he has allowed three earned runs on five hits. With that, he also has had some control problems, as he has thrown four walks.

Hendrix made his major league debut last season with the Reds and got into a good amount of action in the process. In 36 appearances on the year, he had a 5-1 record and 5.36 ERA.

It will be intriguing to see what happens with Hendrix from here. Perhaps a team could elect to claim him off waivers, but if not, expect to see him down in Triple-A moving forward.
