Athletics Claim Pitcher Off Waivers

The Oakland Athletics have claimed Gabe Klobosits off waivers from the Washington Nationals.

Klobostis made his major league debut for the Nationals last season. In 11 appearances with the team, he had a 0-1 record, 5.56 ERA, and five strikeouts. Overall, he didn't have the most successful first season ever, but he will now be aiming to improve as a member of the Athletics.

With the Athletics currently having a fire sale, Klobosits will likely get into a fair share of action with the major league club. Thus, this is a good opportunity for him to show that he is capable of being a full-time major league reliever.

Although Oakland is rebuilding, it doesn't hurt them to add a pitcher like Klobostis. In Double-A and Triple-A last season, he had a combined 3-3 record and 1.64 ERA. If any of this magic could translate over to the majors, it would be a major win for the Athletics.
