Trevor Story Accepts Position Change For Red Sox: "I Don't Think There's Any Doubt That He'll Be Able To Do It"

Trevor Story has put aside his desire to play shortstop for now, instead accepting a position change to second base, and teaming up with Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts for a dynamic up-the-middle pairing. MLB Insider and former GM Jim Bowden says Story should be able to adapt quite well...with time:

"I think Trevor Story is so talented with hand-eye, he's got such a great glove, I don't think it will be difficult," said Bowden. "And I think with the new 'slide-rule' that got implemented a few years back, that makes it an easier transition turning double-plays from the second base side."

However, Bowden does suggest there will be growing pains for Story and the Red Sox. "Don't think there won't be growing pains, especially the first six weeks of the season. Don't think there won't be a few errors here or there... It's not something you can just do overnight. But I don't think there's any doubt that he'll be able to do it. I'm not really worried about that."

And then there's the offensive side of the ball: "The Green Monster is going to love Trevor," said Bowden.

Story signed a 6-year, $140M deal with the Red Sox early Sunday.
