MLB Insider Updates Conforto Most Likely Landing Spots

He's the soul survivor... the last man standing. Michael Conforto has watched all the other higher-end free agents sign, while also watching many of the teams that once had some interest in him move on to other plans.

But according to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, there are still some candidates, and the Texas Rangers seem to have emerged as the most likely destination.

"I think the Rangers are probably the favorite," said Heyman on the Big Time Baseball podcast. The key factor is that the draft pick compensation associated with signing him would be minimal for Texas, as they've already lost their 2nd and 3rd-round selections after their previous signings of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. So a 4th-round pick wouldn't be missed as much.

But will the Rangers want to spend on another big-money contract after already shelling out well over half a billion dollars in free agency?

And Heyman thinks there's a better fit for the left-handed hitting Conforto, anyway.

White Sox a better fit for Conforto?

"The White Sox, to me, are the team that makes the most sense. They've got a great team...and they're very right-handed... To me, that's a perfect fit."

The other two teams in the mix, he believes, are the San Francisco Giants and the Tampa Bay Rays.

But after clearing out Randal Grichuk, and their desperate need for a big left-handed bat as well, don't discount the Toronto Blue Jays either. They've also checked-in on Conforto.
