MLB Rumors: 2 Trade Targets for the Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are eager to get the 2022 started as it's promising to be a huge year for the franchise. The roster is packed with talent including some of the best young position players in the game. While management had already enjoyed a busy offseason prior to the lockout, look for the Blue Jays to be one of the busiest teams in the MLB once operations continue. Let's examine a couple of trade targets being linked to Toronto:

Jose Ramirez

A familiar name to not only Blue Jays fans but also general manager Ross Atkins as the two have a relationship dating back to Atkins time in Cleveland. Jose Ramirez would be a huge upgrade for the Blue Jays as he's able to slot into third base and provide them with a switch-hitter for the top half of their lineup. Ramirez loves to get on base and his remaining contract of $12 million in 2022 and $14 million in 2023 is feasible for the deep pockets in Toronto. The trade would involve a huge package of prospects, but that shouldn't scare Blue Jays fans as management has stocked the cupboards better than most around the league. Adding Ramirez and his MVP type talents to Toronto would be bad news for the rest of the American League.

JD Davis

The New York Mets made some major moves this offseason and look to hit the reset button on the franchise and frankly, they're not done. JD Davis is a prime trade candidate out of New York and his versatility could fit into the Blue Jays plans with ease. He also happens to be under team control for three more seasons, making any deal easier to swallow for Toronto management. Davis is the type of talent who could play mostly at third base for the Blue Jays and fill in at second and the corner outfield spots throughout the season. After the R.A Dickey and Noah Syndergaard trade a few years back, Blue Jays fans are screaming NOT THE METS!
