Veteran Pitcher May Return To MLB

Longtime MLB pitcher Anibal Sanchez is contemplating the possibility of returning to the league for the 2022 season, according to the Boston Globe's Alex Speier

During the summer, Sanchez announced that he wouldn't play during the 2021 season. Thus, it certainly seemed possible that he would consider retiring from there, but now, it appears the 37-year-old is open to the idea of giving it another go. That's assuming that a team will be willing to give him a chance, of course.

Sanchez last pitched at the major-league level with the Washington Nationals during the 2020 campaign. In 11 appearances, he had a 4-5 record, 6.62 ERA, and 43 strikeouts. It was a very poor season, but especially for his standards. Yet, there is reason to believe he could still be effective, as he had an 11-8 record and 3.85 ERA just one season before with the Nationals.

Sanchez also comes with a plethora of overall experience. In 350 MLB appearances between the Florida/Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, and Nationals, he has a 112-113 record, 4.05 ERA, and 1,726 strikeouts. If he decides to come back, he will have the chance to build on those numbers in 2022. Let's see what happens.
