MLB Rumors: 2 NL West Players Expected To Be Traded

The offseason moves were happening fast and furious before the lockout arrived and now many of the experts across the league are predicting a flurry of transactions once the MLB is back to business. In our latest segment we'll hop around to each division and showcase a couple of players who could be traded next by their ball club.

National League West

Los Angeles Dodgers: Gavin Lux: Named one of the best prospects in the world for multiple years, Lux hasn't quite hit the ground running for the Dodgers. Last season the 24-year-old hit .242 and the team is expecting more from Lux in 2022. He'll only be paid $573,000 so teams can certainly fit him in their budgets. The Dodgers have re-signed Chris Taylor and many across the league see Lux being moved out for some pitching help. Max Scherzer is gone, Clayton Kershaw is all but gone, expect lots of moves from LA before spring training.

San Diego Padres: Eric Hosmer: At $20 million in 2022 it won't be easy, but the Padres are trying to move Hosmer. They have engaged in trade talks before, including with some teams from the NL Central, and expectation is discussions will pick up before spring training. Hosmer plays a great first base being a four-time gold glove winner, he's still productive at the plate, and he comes with a wealth of experience. The first-baseman is due almost $60 million over the course of the next four seasons, it's likely the Padres won't be the ones paying him every two weeks.
