MLB Rumors: 2 NL Central Players Expected To Be Traded

The offseason moves were happening fast and furious before the lockout arrived and now many of the experts across the league are predicting a flurry of transactions once the MLB is back to business. In our latest segment we'll hop around to each division and showcase a couple of players who could be traded next by their ball club.

National League Central

Chicago Cubs: Willson Contreras: The Cubs sent some veterans packing last season via a couple of big trades and Contreras could be next on the hit list. Last season he clubbed 21 HR and 57 RBI in 483 plate appearance. He's in line to make $8.7 million in 2022 and that's a reasonable contract that should create some trade interest around the league for a starting backstop. He's one of the last remaining pieces from the World Series championship team and with the team showing Yan Gomes some stability with his recent contract, Contreras can all but kiss his time goodbye at Wrigley Field.

Cincinatti Reds: Luis Castillo: The Reds are open for business and have held numerous discussions regarding Castillo in late 2021 and expectation is a trade gets done long before spring training. The team is in full salary dump mode and his $7.6 million in 2022 is on their radar. The Reds have already sent Tucker Barnhart and Wade Miley packing and Castillo and Sonny Gray are next. Wait until the last of the free agents get scooped up, and then we will see the Reds get some more offers and a deal finalized in Cincy that sends their starter packing.
