Carlos Correa Takes Tactical Turn: Hires Scott Boras

Is Carlos Correa admitting to a tactical error before the lockout? In a curious move, with all baseball business on hold, Correa has switched agents, to Scott Boras.

“I have made the decision to hire Boras Corporation to represent me moving forward," said Correa in a prepared statement. "Boras Corporation offers the highest level of baseball expertise and proven experience.”

According to MLB insider Jim Bowden, it appears Correa is upset with the decision of his former representatives to not rush to sign before the Dec. 1st lockout, when teams were handing out the bag, and his fellow free agent shortstops were raking in the dough with monstrous contracts.

Before the lockout, Corey Seager signed for a whopping $325M, while Marcus Semien hauled in an unexpected $175M. Both are represented by Boras, who made sure those deals got done before the shutdown.

Other players to have recently dumped their former agents and switched to Boras include the Cincinnati Reds' Jonathan India and the Chicago White Sox' Dylan Cease.
