MLB Rumors: Toronto Blue Jays Closing In On Dodgers Reliever

The Toronto Blue Jays are not done spending this offseason after what's already been a busy winter. The team has a number of holes to fill and word is management is emphasizing the bullpen next. Rumor has Toronto has engaged with free-agent closer Kenley Jansen on a multi-year contract.

Jansen who has been a saves machine for the Los Angeles Dodgers is 34 years old and is only interested in at least a two year contract. Considering his resume that includes 350 career saves, the Curacao native shouldn't have any trouble landing what he's looking for.

Last season with the Dodgers Jansen struggled at times but ended up having a decent season that included a 4-4 record with a 2.22 ERA and 38 saves. Jansen struck out 86 batters in 69 innings pitched.

Belief is the Blue Jays are comfortable offering Jansen a two-year deal worth roughly $25 million total. There's no doubt management has put a ton of focus on improving the bullpen this offseason after a 2021 campaign that saw Toronto among the league leaders for games lost because of late game meltdowns.

For the past few seasons, Jansen has been among the league leaders when it comes to soft contact. He doesn't break radar guns, but his cutter, and off speed pitches make him extremely difficult to square up.

Blue Jays fans, how we feeling? Does Jansen move the needle for you?
