MLB Rumors: 3 AL Teams Interested In Trevor Story

Once the MLB lockout passes, one free agent who all fans will be paying attention to is infielder Trevor Story. According to Jon Heyman, the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners are heavily interested in the All-Star.

In 142 games this past season with the Colorado Rockies, Story had 24 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .251 batting average. It was a down year for the 29-year-old, but when looking at his past success, it is apparent that he is a bounce back candidate heading into next season. Keep in mind, he's a two-time All-Star (2018, 2019) and had at least a .289 batting average over the three previous seasons.

When it comes to the Red Sox, Story could work well as either their shortstop or second baseman. Boston would have the option of switching either him or star Xander Bogaerts to second. Ultimately, either of them work well with the change in theory.

It isn't surprising to hear that Houston is linked to Story, as Carlos Correa is a free agent and there's a very good chance that he will be wearing a different jersey next season. Story is other top shortstop available, so if the Astros do in fact strike out on Correa, it wouldn't be surprising to see them bid heavily for the former.

The Mariners stated they would spend this offseason and have been linked to numerous stars already. At this time, they have signed 2021 AL Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray and traded for 2021 All-Star Adam Frazier. However, it feels that this is only the beginning for Seattle and Story would make an excellent addition for them.

Alas, it'll be fun to see where Story ends up signing. Whether it's Boston, Houston, Seattle or another franchise, his next team will be very lucky to have him.
