3 Potential Landing Spots For Joe Kelly

Once the lockout is over, one reliever who teams should be very interested in is Joe Kelly. He is coming off of an excellent season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 48 games, he sported a 2-0 record, 2.86 ERA and had 50 strikeouts. This was after a solid 2020 season where he sported a 1.80 ERA in 12 total appearances. Although he isn't a star closer, he is a very respectable reliever and would make a solid addition for these three teams.

Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox could use another arm and they certainly know Kelly well. He of course was a notable part of their bullpen from 2018 to 2020. Boston also showed that they are open to reunions with former players, as they signed Rich Hill and acquired Jackie Bradley Jr. from the Milwaukee Brewers this offseason. Kelly could work well in his former role with the team, too.

Detroit Tigers: The Tigers have been spending this off-season, as they've added Javier Baez, Eduardo Rodriguez and Tucker Barnhart. However, it would be wise for them to sogm a reliever like Kelly to help strengthen their bullpen. This is a team who is trying to make a playoff push, keep in mind. Although he isn't a star, he has been quite reliable most of his career.

Philadelphia Phillies: When looking at the Phillies, one area that they definitely could improve on is their bullpen. They had the sixth worst team ERA during the 2021 season (4.60 ERA) and it was a notable reason why they ended up missing the playoffs. Kelly could be a strong add for them because of it, but especially if he's able to replicate the success he had last season.
