Oakland Athletics Listening To Offers For Top Players

Well, it's safe to say that the Oakland Athletics are ready to be sellers. They are currently listening to offer on their veteran players, but most notably pitchers Chris Bassitt, Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea, according to Jon Heyman.

During the 2021 season, the A's finished third in the AL West, but still had a respectable 86-76 record. However, it is apparent that they are looking to gain more money and are willing to tear down their team in the process.

Bassitt is coming off of a career year that saw him make his first All-Star game. In 27 games, he had a 12-4 record and 3.15 ERA. In the shortened 2020 season, he was also lights out, as he went 5-2 with a 2.29 ERA. Had it been a full season, he easily would have been an All-Star then, too.

Montas also pitched quite well this season. In 2020, he struggled mightily, as evidenced by his 5.60 ERA in 11 games. However, he rebounded spectacularly this year. In 32 games, he had a 13-9 record and 3.37 ERA. He enhanced his value significantly from it.

Manaea just completed his sixth season with the A's. Like Bassitt and Montas, he also had a solid year himself. He would finish the season with an 11-10 record and 3.91 ERA. Although he wasn't as dominant as the other two, there will absolutely be teams interested in the 29-year-old. He has had a very solid career thus far, after all.

If the A's end up moving all three of these pitchers, the would also strengthen up their prospect pool at a minimum. Teams looking for pitching - you now have more notable options.
