Miami Marlins And Tampa Bay Rays Make A Trade

The Miami Marlins have acquired pitcher Louis Head from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for either a player to be named later or cash.

This could end up being a very good deal for the Marlins. As a 31-year-old, Head played out his rookie campaign and did quite well in the process. In 27 games with Tampa Bay, he had a 2-0 record, 2.31 ERA and 32 strikeouts. He was able to remain consistent with the Rays, even though he was sent back to the minors on 12 different occasions during the campaign.

With the move to Miami, one has to assume that Head will be given the chance to stay with the big-league club if he continues to pitch this well. The Rays became famous for switching up their bullpen throughout the season.

The Rays now have another available spot on their 40-man roster. Earlier this week, they traded away infielder Mike Brosseau to the Milwaukee Brewers. This will allow Tampa Bay to add players if they wish to.

It will be interesting to see how Head performs with the Marlins from here. It truly could end up being a very beneficial move for both parties.
