Stroman/Blue Jays Reunion "Definitely" Possible

When the current front office regime of the Toronto Blue Jays traded popular ace pitcher Marcus Stroman in 2019, some things were said that made this new report seem like an impossibility. But here we are, free agency looming and Stroman says he's "definitely open to a reunion" with the Blue Jays.

Still with a strong connection to his second home, Stroman was quick to respond when a fan suggested he should consider coming back to the Jays as a free agent and line up in their already-strong rotation.

But that was just the start. A flurry of activity came out of that response, and he has since been very active on Twitter engaging with both Jays fans, and haters, talking about the possibility of a Toronto return.

This development is certainly surprising, considering the fact that Stroman ripped the Jays' front office duo of Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins on his way out the door after the 2019 trade. In particular, he blasted Atkins for saying that Stroman had been offered a contract extension: "I never heard a word from any of those guys [in the front office]. ... There was nothing offered ever from their perspective. If they do say that, it's a complete lie."

Stroman had an incredible 5-and-a-half year run with the Blue Jays, his marquee memory being a miraculous return in September of 2015 from a torn ACL in spring training, to help lead the Jays into the playoffs for the first time since 1993.

This past offseason, after his New York Mets won the Francisco Lindor trade sweepstakes over the Jays, Stroman took another shot at Shapiro and Atkins, saying that they would  "never build the team they should around their unbelievable core of young players… It’s a travesty.”

But hey, free agency can sometimes create some strange bedfellows.
