Could Yankees Have An All-Seager Left Side Of The Infield in 2022?

Third base and shortstop were not the most sound of positions for the New York Yankees in 2021. They will have a number of ways to fill those gaps in free agency this offseason, and two of them are spelled S-e-a-g-e-r.

Corey Seager is one of a handful of superstar free agent shortstops, and MLB insider Jeff Passan recently predicted that he will be the prize catch when the Yankees go fishing in the free agent market.

Passan predicts it'll take over $300 Million to land him, but thinks that Steinbrenner and Co. will pull the trigger.

Now comes word that Corey's older brother, third baseman Kyle Seager, has officially been handed his walking papers by the Seattle Mariners (in a most unceremonious manner); although nowhere near as flashy or gaudy of a signing as Corey Seager might be, the Yanks could do a lot worse than getting big brother Kyle to man the hot corner for a year or two.

Although his batting average took a big hit in 2021, Kyle's power numbers leaped to a career-high 35 home runs and 101 RBIs.

That left-handed power bat (something the Yankees covet) could do some serious damage with that short porch in right in the Bronx.

It remains to be seen if the Yankees can make it a family affair in the infield in 2022.
