3 Possible Destinations For All-Star Carlos Rodon

Heading into the 2021 season, there was a lot of uncertainty following Carlos Rodon. Due to this, he signed a prove-it contract with the Chicago White Sox for just $3 million. The 28-year-old pitcher played just 11 games over the two previous seasons, so it was hard to determine what he would be able to bring. So how did Rodon do this season? He had a 13-5 record, 2.37 ERA and 185 strikeouts. With this, he was named an All-Star for the first time and certainly is in line for a massive raise.

Here are three teams who should be calling the southpaw.

Chicago White Sox: If the White Sox can have it their way, Rodon will be back with them for the start of the 2022 season. Although he faced a ton of injuries over his career, he has been a member of the White Sox since 2015. With Chicago looking to win their first World Series since 2005, keeping Rodon is something they'd love to do and will at least try to. However, the real question will be is if he will be open to accepting a bit of a hometown discount.

San Francisco Giants: The Giants surprised a lot of baseball fans when they finished the 2021 season with a league best 107-55 record. Although it ultimately did not result in a World Series championship for them, there is a lot of hope for them moving forward. One area that they should be looking to improve upon this off-season is pitching. Rodon could be an interesting option for them if they are willing to spend a bit more money to get him.

Los Angeles Angels: The Los Angeles Angels have money to spend this off-season and should focus their attention on adding a quality pitcher. This is a team that needs to succeed, especially when remembering that they have both Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. If Rodon can replicate his dominance this season for many more years, it certainly would help the Angels to add him.
