Tigers Pitcher Pukes On Mound, Then Gets Sent to the Minors

Talk about adding insult to injury! The Detroit Tigers have sent pitcher Beau Burrows back to Triple-A after he got sick and threw up on the mound during Saturday's start.

It happened during the 5th inning of the Tigers' 15-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox. Burrows got into a little trouble (putting it lightly) after allowing four baserunners. He was able to strike out the next two batters, but the blistering afternoon sun started to take its toll, along with the 50 pitches he was forced to throw in just 1 2/3 innings.

White Sox batter Yermin Mercedes looked kind of spooked after Burrows started throwing up in the middle of his at-bat. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch wasn't exactly a comforting source either, coming out to the mound only briefly.

Afterwards, Hinch said “I think he threw up maybe a couple times. I didn’t stick around on the mound long enough to check it out." Yeah, thanks a lot, boss.
