Khris Davis Designated For Assignment by Rangers; May Be End of the Line
Former Oakland A's slugger Khris Davis has been designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers. He was acquired by Texas this past offseason for shortstop Elvis Andrus.

Khris Davis might be nearing the end of the road. Still amazed that he batted exactly .247 each year between 2015-2018. He was batting .157 for Texas this season. https://t.co/C1vx1I4q3Q

Davis was known for a few things as a major leaguer. He was the 'Khris Davis with a K' (as opposed to Chris Davis); he was the guy who batted exactly .247 for four straight seasons; and he was the one who used to really know how to mash.
Davis hit over 40 HR for three straight seasons for the A's, from 2016-2018. But the last couple of seasons have brought on hard times for the 33-year-old, as he's hit just 2 HR in each of 2020 and 2021 (both of them within the last week). He was batting just .157 this year for Texas.
Rangers GM Chris Young says the move was about the team's youth movement as Davis' performance.

Young said the decision was not as much about Davis’ performance, but more about getting looks at the younger talent in a year dedicated to development. #StraightUpTX
