Trevor Rogers' Top 4 Landing Spots in Free Agency

Trevor Rogers did not follow up his breakout 2025 campaign (1.81 ERA) with the same kind of greatness in 2026 (4.01 ERA), but he's still a solid mid-rotation starter—and a lefty—who has now shown that he can gobble up innings (169 IP this season). He's projected to land himself a multi-year contract of at least $60 or $70 million.

Which teams will be in on the 29-year-old? We take a look at 4 clubs that should be strong potential landing spots for the southpaw.

Chicago White Sox

The ChiSox made a stunning run into the postseason this year after three consecutive 100-loss seasons. But their starting rotation just wasn't up to snuff to get them very far. They will be addressing that this winter, and Rogers should be one of their targets.

San Diego Padres

The Pads have an entire starting rotation heading to free agency, including Michael King, Nick Pivetta, Robby Ray, Casey Mize and Walker Buehler. Safe to say that they will be all over starting pitching this winter, and Rogers is on their radar.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Pitching depth is an area the Pirates will address this offseason. And adding a solid left-hander to the otherwise strong RHP rotation mix of Paul Skenes, Braxton Ashcraft, Jared Jones and Bubba Chandler would be a strong move.

The Bucos aren't usually playing in the big market sandbox, but a free agent contract in the $65M range is probably something they could wrap their heads around.

Baltimore Orioles

If none of the above are able to sway Rogers to head their way, the Orioles would certainly love to have him back. And he's not out of their price range, either. They've already extended the $23.1M qualifying offer. Rogers has until 4:00 PM ET on November 17th to accept or decline it. The chances are slim and none that he would accept it. He's in line for a bigger deal in free agency, and he'll take his chances there. That doesn't mean the O's couldn't re-sign him that way, however.
