White Sox DFA Former World Series Winner

Urquidy started the year with the Pittsburgh Pirates after missing almost the entire previous two seasons after Tommy John surgery. He was signed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal. He started the year working out of the bullpen and got into five games with Pittsburgh, posting an 8.53 ERA before being sent to the minors, then was DFA'd in July.
He was then traded to the White Sox, where he spent a little more time at AAA before getting into six games with Chicago. Again, not too much success, and he is now back on the open market.
Urquidy's Triple-A numbers were decent enough this season, however, with a 3.48 ERA in 20 starts along with a 79:20 strikeout-to-walk ratio. But he has not been able to regain the major league success he had before his TJ surgery.
He was a solid starter for Houston over the course of four seasons, capped off with a 13-8 record in 29 starts in 2022. He pitched in a relief role in the World Series and has a ring to show for it.
But things went downhill in 2023, when he posted a 5.29 ERA and missed time due to a shoulder injury. 2024 and '25 were write-offs due to the elbow surgery.
The 31-year-old will try to catch on with another team next season.
