Former Blue Jays Outfielder DFA'd For 2nd Time In 2 Weeks

It's been a rough year, and in particular, a rough two weeks for outfielder Jesus Sanchez. Just 12 days after being claimed off waivers, he has been designated for assignment once again.

Sanchez began the year with the Toronto Blue Jays, intended to add some left-handed power to the outfield. And while his offense wasn't quite what they'd hoped, it was his atrocious fielding in left that led to his DFA from the Jays earlier this month. 

The D-Backs weren't interested in playing Sanchez in the outfield, and used him only at DH in his six games with the team. But he went 2-for-15 (.133) with five strikeouts. Friday night, they needed to make room on the roster to call up a catcher, so Sanchez became a DFA victim once again. 

In Toronto, Sanchez batted .260 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs in 269 at-bats, with a .734 OPS. He hit .276 with a .781 OPS against righties. 

But on the defensive side of the ball, Sanchez's minus-9 Fielding Run Value ranks in the 3rd percentile this season, per Baseball Savant. 

The 28-year-old has a .725 OPS in seven MLB seasons with the Miami Marlins, Houston Astros, Blue Jays and D-Backs. 

He'll try to catch on next spring (if there's baseball) with another team.
