Aaron Judge is doing his best to try to convince the NY Yankees to put him in the lineup for Game 1 of their Wild Card series against the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night. Onlyl problem is, he hasn't played since straining his calf 12 days ago.

But there he was, on the field at Yankee Stadium on Monday, taking batting practice.

It was the first time the three-time MVP has been on the field taking BP since the injury. His status for the Wild Card series is still unconfirmed, despite his pleas to be put in the lineup.

“I’m feeling great,” Judge said before the workout. “I’ve been doing a lot of work back there to try to get back as soon as I can. I’ve been swinging for a couple days, moving around...

“I’ve been doing a lot of convincing, so I’m going to keep doing that. We’re all going to be smart, but I think they all know I want to be out there, especially in the first game."

He hasn't, however, done any baserunning, so it's still questionable that he could be ready for Game 1 Tuesday night.

Gary Phillips of the NY Daily News writes that "moderate strains typically require 3-6 weeks of rest and recovery." Judge is nowhere close to that.

“Guys take risks every single day. I know a lot of guys in here are banged up and dealing with stuff. So, yeah, I understand the risks.”
