The Dodgers Strike Again, Landing 2025 All-Star Pitcher

Here we go again. The LA Dodgers are never done upgrading their talent base, it seems. After landing the big fish in the trade deadline pool on the weekend in Tarik Skubal, they've now added a 2025 All-Star to their pitching staff, trading for Kris Bubic from the Kansas City Royals.

Bubic has been out since May with elbow and shoulder trouble. He is expected to return around late August.  

Add Bubic to the long, long list of depth that LA has built for their rotation. 

They are literally nine legit starting pitchers deep. However, Ohtani, Snell and Glasnow, in addition to Bubic, are not currently pitching. All are expected back by the end of the year. 

Bubic is currently throwing, and is up to 80 feet, according to reports.

He had a 2.55 ERA in 116.1 innings as a starter last year, good enough to earn an All-Star nod. He had a 2.67 ERA (1.95 FIP) as a reliever the year before, and that's likely where he'll slot in when he returns, assuming that Snell and/or Glasnow are back in the rotation.

In return, the Royals get 25-year-old RHP Carlos Duran from the Dodgers. He has a 3.38 ERA, in 42.2 innings out of the 'pen at Triple-A this season. The fireballer is striking out 12.9 batters per nine innings.
