MLB Trade Rumors: Phillies & Blue Jays Talking Trade on Multiple Players
Two teams that will be making moves at the trade deadline, for different reasons, are the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays. The Phils are desperate to turn things around amidst their recent swoon (2-8 over their last 10, but still in a Wild Card spot with a ton of elite talent), while the Jays are obvious sellers in a season gone wrong.

Philly has multiple needs. Toronto has available veterans in those areas: Gausman, Bieber, Hoffman, Springer, Varsho.
As spring complex neighbors, Jays execs know Phillies prospects well.
Morosi throws out names like Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber and Jeff Hoffman on the pitching side, and George Springer and Daulton Varsho as outfield enhancements.
"That's (Phillies GM) Dave Dombrowski's disposition… He always looks to make moves and be aggressive," Morosi said on MLB Network.
"One team in particular right now is a really good fit for a trade with the Phillies, and that's the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays have a reliever they could give them, a familiar face, Jeff Hoffman. They have a couple of starters... to help address the Phillies' rotation needs."
While Bieber's effectiveness took a huge hit after his last start, with six walks and four earned runs in 2/3 of an inning, Gausman has been one of the top starters in the AL for the past several years. Additionally, he was the ultimate team player during Toronto's World Series run, even making a bullpen appearance on only two days' rest when needed in Game 7 of the ALCS.

If the Phillies want a starter who could move to the bullpen in Red October, Kevin Gausman fits the mold.

On the offensive side of the ball, many Phillies "have underperformed for a long time," Morosi said, and "How about George Springer? Take a look at his numbers in the last couple of weeks ( .288, 4 HR, 13 RBIs in last 15 games, .879 OPS)."
As far as the prospects that Toronto could ask for in return, the fact that the Jays & Phillies are spring training neighbors in the Dunedin/Clearwater area is another reason these two teams could easily come together on a deal, says Morosi. The Jays have intimate knowledge of the Phillies prospects. "It allows you to have a greater familiarity with who you'll be getting."
In summary, "The Jays & Phillies know each other very, very well. That would not surprise me at all to see a multiplayer move of Blue Jays going to the Phillies."
